The municipal sanitary workers' strike entered the seventh day here today, resulting in garbage accumulation on the roadsides as well as open sites in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, after talks between striking workers and the Telangana state government failed.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has begun utilising services of private labourers for sanitary operations.
Yesterday, Telangana Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar held talks with representatives of various municipal unions, including Telangana Municipal Employees' and Workers' United Association Union, urging them to return to work.
