Hyderabad Police will conduct training to impart different self-defence techniques including 'Krav Maga' (Israeli self-defence system) and Karate to college girls under their 'She Teams' initiative, a senior police official said here today.

As part of training classes, college girls will be imparted self-defence techniques, including 'Krav Maga' and karate, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Swathi Lakra told PTI.

"We will be teaching them. We are having some persons who are willing to teach self-defence tactics to the college girls. In fact, when some of our people (police officers) went to the colleges, they (college authorities) were requesting us to give them some classes on self-defence. We will definitely taking up very soon," the senior police officer said.

"There are many people who are coming forward and help us in making others learn. We will be taking their help. May be in a week or two once we start anti-eve teasing campaign, this training will also begin. Girls and women can also use pepper spray for self-defence," Swathi added.

City police had on October 24 launched 'She Teams' to provide security to women and curb incidents of eve-teasing and stalking thereby creating a safe environment for women.

Since October 24, Hyderabad Police have booked 40 cases against offenders.
