The Information and Broadcasting ministry has constituted a four-member committee to inquire into the collapse of a 149-m high FM tower in the national capital after it crashed during a storm last month.
The ministry issued a memorandum today as per which a four-member committee would investigate all aspects related to the collapse of the tower and submit its report to I&B secretary Bimal Julka in 15 days.
"The 149 meter high CTI FM Tower constructed at HPT, AIR, Kingsway Camp, Delhi reportedly collapsed during the storm in the evening of 30th May, 2014. The said Tower was constructed by M/s BECIL out of the funds provided by Government of India and was being used for the purpose of FM transmissions by the five private FM broadcasters of Phase II scheme," the ministry's memorandum said.

The ministry further said that it has also been reported that the antenna and feeder cable mounted on this tower were also damaged in this incident and as a result the services of the five private FM broadcasters operating from this tower have been severely disrupted.
The memorandum said that the members of the committee are -- Mukul Tyagi, retired Chief Engineer of All India Radio, A K M Tripathy, formerly Chief Manager, TSL, Allahabad, P Das from Prasar Bharati and Bal Kishan, Director (Radio), Telecom Engineering Centre.
