Sixteen ITBP officials have been awarded the President's police medals for distinguished and meritorious service on the eve of Independence Day.
The awardees of the distinguished service medal include Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) Jaspal Singh and A K Negi and Inspector Om Prakash.
Thirteen others, including Commandant G C Purohit, have been awarded the President's police medals for meritorious service.
The 90,000-personnel strong Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is tasked with guarding the 3,488-km Sino-India frontier apart from rendering a variety of duties in the internal security domain of the country.
