The Andaman and Nicobar Islands today celebrated the 69th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.
Lt Governor Lt Gen A.K Singh (Retd) hoisted the National Flag at the famous Netaji stadium here and said opening of the new medical college and introduction of chartered flights from Chennai/Vizag to Port Blair had met the long pending demands of the people.
He also said tourism in the Islands was poised for great development in the year ahead.

The Independence Day was also celebrated in different areas of Nicobar district.
