Three officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been awarded the Presidents police medal on the eve of the Independence day.
The awardees include Inspector General (IG) Sandeep Rai Rathore who has been decorated with the Presidents police medal for distinguished service.
A 1992-batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Rathore has led from the front every time the disaster mitigation force has been requisitioned for salvage or rescue operations in the country including during the 2013 devastating rain and floods tragedy in the hill state of Uttarakhand.

The officer who conducted the task of securing the Delhi Metro network during the 2010 CommonWealth Games as the DIG of another paramilitary CISF, was also present on the ground when floods hit Jammu and Kashmir last year.
Commandant R S Joon and Constable Kanu Mali of the central force have also been awarded with the President police medal for meritorious service for rendering outstanding services.
