I killed, 8 injured in road mishap

One person was killed and eight others were injured when a bus in which they were travelling rolled into a deep gorge near Karsog in Mandi district, about 100 km from here, today.

The deceased, identified as Vijay Singh of Maunag, had just boarded the bus and travelled around 100 mt distance when the accident occurred. He was yet to get the ticket for the journey, police said.

There were only nine passengers in the bus and all of them suffered injuries, and Singh succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

The other eight are undergoing treatment at IGMC Hospital in Shimla, they said.
 

They included Prem Lal (driver), Kuldeep, Chadravati, Manisha, Rajendra Kumar, Arnav, Krishan Lal and Virendra Kumar, all hailing from Maunag.

Meanwhile, twenty persons, including a woman, were

injured, five of them seriously, when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus in which they were travelling rolled 660-feet down into a ditch near Gawana Morcurve at Ghansari in Rohru sub-division of Shimla district.

The bus, carrying 25 passengers, was on its way from Rohru to Kothada.

The injured, including the driver and the conductor of the bus, were rushed to the Community Health centre in Rohru, police said.

Preliminary investigations by the police suggested that the accident occurred due to "rash and negligent driving".

A case has been registered against the driver Sanjay Kumar, they said.
