"It is the duty of judiciary to ensure justice to citizens in time. In 20 years, we made various efforts but a huge number of cases are still pending. It is a matter of concern...It is the right of citizen to get justice in time," Justice Dalveer Bhandari said after inaugurating a mediation centre set up by state legal services authority in Banipark here.

He said more and more mediation centres should be set up because settlement of issues through such centres requires less time and money.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on the occasion announced Rs 43.67 crore for construction of courts in Banipark court premises as proposed by Rajasthan high court.

Justice Bhandari also inaugurated an alternative dispute resolution centre at Jaipur.

The centre was already functional but was renovated and re-inaugurated by him.

Meanwhile, a group of lawyers alleged they were ill- treated at the function as it was mismanaged.
