Husky voiced jingle queen Sravanti Majumder said she enjoyed singing ad jingles in 70s which was a rare career option at that time.
"That was a heady day, a really different day for ad jingles. Bengali ad jingles on air had so much thought and creativity. I revelled in singing ad jingles in the 70s," Sravanti told PTI.
Recalling how lyricist Gouriprasanna Majumder used to compliment her that her style of singing, which was 10 years ahead of her time.
"In my days I was considered to be forward thinking. My ad jingles on itching, men's underwear perhaps made value-addition to the products. You can imagine a gravelly female voice peddling such products which probably notched up more sales in that conservative era," she said.
Referring to the jingle on a popular antiseptic cream, Sravanti, who lives in the Isle of Man in the UK, says the ad may have filled coffers.
