Apparently fed up with a prolonged illness, a 32-year-old employee of the Pune Income Tax office allegedly killed himself by hanging from a ceiling fan in his house in Akurdi area, police said today.
Police have found a suicide note, purportedly written by the deceased Bablu Kumar Chandreshwar Prasad, from the spot.
A senior Nigdi police station officer said neighbours of Prasad went on to check on him in the morning hours at his flat, but couldn't get any response from him, following which they called up police.
Prasad was found hanging after police broke open the door of the flat and went inside.
The officer said Prasad might have committed suicide on Sunday night.
"One leg of Prasad was amputated recently after which he was not able to do his work with much efficiency. His neighbours and colleagues were helping him in his work but he was feeling that he was too much dependent on others.
"We have found a suicide note from his house in which he mentioned that he was fed with the prolonged illness and that was the reason he was taking the drastic step," the officer said.
