Based on inputs about the tax evasion by the three dealers of Skoda, Hyundai and Volkswagen, a 40-members team of the department headed by additional tax commissioner Pradip Srivastva carried out raids at their showrooms at Dehradun and Roorkee and unearthed tax evasion of Rs 13.5 crore, additional secretary finance Saujanya told reporters here.
"We have received reports through surveillance that these dealers were evading tax on the sales of the car during the past three-four months. While the sales of these dealers had gone up, the recovery of tax was not shown," Saujanya said.
Further probes into the matter are on, they added.
