Pop star Katy Perry has revealed she has tried to date "non-famous guys" and she would go out with another man who wasn't in the media eye.

The 29-year-old singer has also opened up about her divorce to comedian Russell Brand in 2011, and insists she doesn't always go for famous men, reported Rolling Stone magazine.

Asked if she'd date a 'regular' guy, she said: "I've done that before. It's not that they have to be famous, although there's a level of understanding when they're in the same business, you know?

"They understand what it means when you're tired from a show or the tour's exhausting you or if an interview went wrong - they know all the ins and outs, so you can just walk in to the house with a certain face and they understand, you know?

The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer, who is reportedly dating music producer Diplo after splitting from singer John Mayer earlier this year, insists she never wanted to be famous and thinks it is "disgusting" but understands it's a byproduct of what she does for a living.

"Fame is truly a byproduct of the dream that I had. People want to be recognised for their work, but nobody wants to be famous for nothing. Fame is, I think, disgusting," Perry said.
