Actress Shailene Woodley says she was offered the role of Anastasia Steele in the big screen adaptation of E L James' popular novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

The 22-year-old actress said if she had opted for the lead role in the much awaited adaptation, it would have hindered the filming of her upcoming sci-fi adventure 'Divergent', reported Ace Showbiz.

"It actually is true. I didn't want to audition for it. It's because I had already done 'Divergent' and I knew there was no way I wanted to do multiple franchises at the same time, because that's crazy, so I didn't see the point in it," Woodley said.

The actress had earlier revealed that Jennifer Lawrence had convinced her to sign up for the 'Divergent' role as she was initially reluctant to accept it.

The role of Anastasia Steele eventually went over to actress Dakota Johnson.
