Comedian Chris Rock has denied reports that he was invited to host the Oscars for a second time in 2015.

It was recently claimed that Rock, 'Veep' star Julia-Louis Dreyfus and last year's host Ellen DeGeneres were approached prior to Neil Patrick Harris, reported The Wrap.

Rock has now denied the claims, saying, "I didn't get an offer. I mean, it's Neil Patrick Harris.

"It's like, who would pick me before Neil Patrick Harris? He's an amazing host."

'Gone Girl' and 'How I Met Your Mother' star Harris will preside over the Oscars for the first time in 2015, but is a seasoned awards show host, having previously presented the Emmys and the Tony Awards.

Rock previously hosted the Academy Awards telecast in 2005 to a mixed reception, including an on-stage rebuke from Sean Penn after the comedian made a joke about his 'All the King's Men' co-star Jude Law.

He has previously expressed enthusiasm for hosting the Oscars again if asked.
