Right from Jantar Mantar to their various destinations -- residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and BJP President Nitin Gadkari -- the protesters defied police orders and clashed with security personnel who stopped them.

At the Janpath-Maulana Azad Road intersection, yards away from Gandhi's highly-fortified residence, around 200 people gathered and gave a tough time to policemen who used water cannons, tear gas shells and lathis to disperse them from the area.

Senior police officials were leading the security personnel from the front as IAC members Manish Sisodia, Kumar Vishwas and lawyer Prashant Bhushan tried breaking the cordon and march towards Gandhi's residence.

Manish and Vishwas were huddled into a bus, only to return seconds later to climb atop the vehicle and give bytes to the media. Bhushan remained inside the bus.

As police' announcement asking them to return to Jantar Mantar went unheeded and protesters showed defiance, security personnel went into action mode and started using water cannons and tear gas.

The supporters then went around the area and deflated tyres of buses which were parked to take protesters who were detained.

Tyres of four buses were deflated by a few supporters, who justified their action saying "they will not allow any of their leaders to be detained".

The supporters also stopped vehicles on the roads and asked them to join the protest.
