IAF chief on Sri Lanka visit

Seeking to further strengthen military ties, IAF Chief Arup Raha today reached Sri Lanka on a three-day visit during which he will hold talks with top political and military leadership of that country.

"Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha proceeded on a three-day goodwill visit to Sri Lanka today on the invitation of Sri Lankan Air Force commander Air Marshal Kolitha A Gunatilleke," an IAF release said here.

During the visit, Raha is scheduled to call on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya and the commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force of Sri Lanka and discuss a wide range of bilateral issues.
 

Raha would also visit the Sri Lankan Air Force academy and other operational squadrons and meet and interact with the Sri Lankan air force personnel.

Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh, on his two-day farewell visit to Eastern Command, interacted with troops in Sukna cantonment and reviewed operational preparedness along with Lt Gen M M S Rai, Eastern Army Commander.
