The MoU for the project, named 'Happy Landings', was signed by Air Vice-Marshal Amit Aneja, Asst. Chief of the Air Staff (Training), and Supria Banerji, Deputy Director General, CII.
"With an aim to equip the airmen with the requisite skill sets for enabling them to seek sustainable and befitting career prospects in civil industry sector post-retirement, IAF in collaboration with CII has embarked on a project of setting up a Vocational Training Centre (VTC)," the industry body said in a statement.
According to the agreement, CII will train airmen due for retirement in the near future on skills and capabilities required by the industry. To begin with, three focus sectors -- aviation, telecom & IT and defence production -- have been identified on the basis of existing skills, capabilities and strength of the airmen.
The training of the CII would focus towards bridging the gap between existing skills possessed by the airmen and those required by the civil industry.
The project would also facilitate suitable placements for the personnel in the civil sector.
