IAF organises guided tour to AFS as part of I-Day celebrations

As part of 70th Independence Day celebrations, Indian Air Force organised a guided tour for the students to Air Force Station (AFS), Hakimpet today.

Around 10,000 students from various schools from twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad enjoyed the trip, according to a defence release.

"The aim of the event was to familiarise and motivate the young students to join an exciting and challenging career in the Indian Air Force", it said.

The event was inaugurated by Air Commodore Hardeep Bains, Air Officer Commanding of the station and Anju Bains, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local).

The students had the rare opportunity to witness a fly-past by Kiran and Chetak aircraft, the release said.
 

A static display was also arranged for school children to see the aircraft and get a close feel of the magnificent metal birds.

The different planes and helicopters on display included Chetak helicopters, Hawk an advanced jet trainer aircraft, Pilatus PC-7 Turbo trainer aircraft, Kiran MK-1 a twin-seat jet plane.

Children were also taken to the Air Force museum to give them glimpses of the Air Force history. In addition, a movie show about life in Air Force was also screened for the students, it was stated.
