IAF skydiving team 'Akashganga' celebrates Raising Day

The Indian Air Force's skydiving team 'Akashganga' has celebrated its 30th Raising Day at the Air Force Station in Agra, an official said today.

Air Marshal H N Bhagwat was the guest of honour at the event, defence PRO Miss Gargi Malik Sinha said.

As a part of the celebrations, demonstration jumps were undertaken at the Malpura Drop Zone, Sinha said.

The present team leader Wing Commander K B S Samyalalong with team members and other guests, including the Air Marshal, undertook a jump and displayed professional skills in the sky, the PRO said.

The red-letter day in the history of Indian parachuting dawned on August 10, 1987, when the Indian Air Force launched its skydiving team 'Akashganga', she stated.
 

Since then, the team has undertaken jumps all over the country and abroad, the officer said.

The team has holds various records in skydiving formats and has also participated in many global events, Sinha said.
