Stone Roses singer Ian Brown has escaped a driving ban.

The 53-year-old frontman of the iconic Manchester rockers successfully convinced magistrates at Stockport Magistrates Court that he wouldn't be able to help parents George and Jean on a regular basis, reported Metro.

He also said that it would affect his day job too, as he wouldn't be able to drive to band rehearsals.

The singer faced disqualification from the road after he was caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone in his Lexus.

The singer was ordered to pay a 200 pound fine and 150 pound costs.
