IARI to organise three-day Krishi Mela from Feb 26

The Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) is going to organise a three day 'Krishi Vigyan Mela' with the purpose to educate farmers about the latest seed varieties which are resilient to climate change.

"The mela will be organised at the PUSA complex here from February 26-28 and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will inaugurate the event," IARI Director H S Gupta told reporters here.

At the inaugural function, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will also announce the establishment of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University in Bundelkhand region encompasses 7 districts in Uttar Pradesh and 6 in Madhya Pradesh, he added.

This year's mela is on the theme of 'Climate Resilient Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture',Gupta added.
 

"The latest seed varieties developed by IARI, which are resilient to climate change and at the same time raise productivity will be the main attraction of the mela," Gupta said.

There will be more than 200 stalls in the annual farmers event displaying a range of products, services and for the farmers. Besides IARI, the state agricultural universities, agriculture research institutes, private sector undertakings and progressive farmers will also take part in the mela.
