IAS officer Rita Singh deemed resigned

Indian Administrative Service officer Rita Singh is deemed to have resigned from service for being on unauthorised leave for at least over an year.

The President is pleased to direct that Singh, a 1997 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is deemed to have resigned from the Indian Administrative Service with effect from May 31, 2007, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

She has been deemed resigned for being absent without authorisation for a period exceeding one year from the date of expiry of sanctioned leave or permission, as per the order.

Singh has been on official leave since April 22, 2003, according to official records.
 

An IAS, IPS and IFS officer can lose his or her job for overstaying on foreign assignments for more than a month or for being on unauthorised leave, as per the new rules formed by the government.
