Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today said it has appointed Samiran Gupta as the new Head of its India operations.
Based in New Delhi, he will be the primary representative of ICANN in India and also be responsible for all stakeholder engagements, ICANN said in a statement.
Gupta joins ICANN's APAC team from APCO Worldwide.

AdNear gets $19mn funding from Telstra Ventures,Global Brain * AdNear, a location intelligence company, today said it has raised USD 19 million (over Rs 116 crore) from Telstra Ventures, Global Brain and exising investors as it looks to expand into new markets.
Its existing investors, Sequoia Capital and Canaan Partners, also participated in the capital raising round.
AdNear sends relevant ads to mobile audiences on behalf of advertisers using its proprietary real-time bidding platform. Its clients include brands like P&G, Woolworths, Audi, BMW, Unilever, Ford, Samsung, IKEA, and Adidas.

Cyient adds two independent directors to Board * Cyient, formerly called Infotech Enterprises, today said it has appointed two independent directors -- Andrea Bierce and John Paterson -- to its board.
The induction further strengthens Cyient's diverse board, reflecting the global spirit of the company, it said in a statement. With over three decades of industry and consulting experience, Bierce has worked in areas of governance, enterprise risk management, compliance and reporting.
Paterson also brings with him over 35 years of industry experience. He retired recently as president of Rolls-Royce Marine and Industrial Power Systems.

HDFC ERGO settles over 75% claim in flood affected J&K * General insurance company HDFC ERGO has settled over 75 per cent of the claims in Jammu & Kashmir after the recent floods in the state.
"DFC ERGO General Insurance Company,...Has already settled more than 75 per cent of reported flood claims," it said in a release today.
The company said that it has been calling all the policyholders from all affected areas and is assuring claim support for loss due to floods.
It has also introduced a special toll free number, E-mail Id and SMS requesting all the affected policyholders/ claimants to contact.
HDFC ERGO has also set-up a dedicated team of experts to note the extent of loss as well as to ensure fast track settlement on priority basis.
