The government's agri-research body ICAR today said it has procured products worth Rs 3 crore using the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
All government bodies/institutions have been asked to use the GeM platform for greater transparency and efficiency in public procurement.
In a statement, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) said that it has made purchase of Rs 3 crore worth items such as vehicles, sofa and chairs among other items through the GeM portal in the last few months.

The ICAR has asked its 101 institutes and 71 agricultural universities spread across the country to use the GeM for public procurement.
So far, 689 category of products are registered on the portal and purchases of less than Rs 50,000 can be made online.
