A delegation of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today to explore avenues for partnerships in various sectors.

The sectors include education, information technology, solar energy, green technology, agriculture and sports.

Interacting with the delegation, led by Leader of Opposition in Ontario Patrick Brown, Khattar described his visit to Canada last year as a great experience since there were a lot of similarities in both the countries, be it politically or economically.

He informed the delegation about the Haryana government's decision to organize 'Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit' on March 7-8, 2016 at Gurgaon where entrepreneurs from across the globe would participate.

While expressing his anticipation over large participation from Canadian entrepreneurs, Khattar invited Brown to the summit.

Besides, Pravasi Haryana Diwas would be organized on the following day of the two-day summit on March 9, 2016 at Gurgaon, he added.

Brown said that Canadian entrepreneurs are keen to invest in Haryana as the state offers fertile ground for all sorts of investment and also provides a conducive environment for the industry to flourish.

The Canadian leader, who is on his 16th tour to India, described Haryana as a successful state in all spheres.

Khattar said that Canadian investors had evinced interest during high-level meetings held in collaboration with ICCC at Canada, in August last.

"Today's meeting is organized to follow up the discussion concerning investment held with the entrepreneurs," he said.

It is hoped that both Haryana and Canada would step up further in mutual understanding by way of investment, he added.

The Chief Minister further said that state government envisages making Haryana a sports hub as the state has a lot of potential in sports, especially in rural areas.

A lot of new initiatives in this direction are being launched by the government, he pointed.

Canada also has good Kabaddi players like Haryana, he said.

"We wish that Haryana teams get to visit Canada to play there and vice-versa," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that a meeting of all ministers has been called in connection with discussion on 'Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit' to be organized by the state in March 2016 at Gurgaon.
