A woman supervisor of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Odisha's Kalahandi district has been arrested by anti-graft vigilance personnel for allegedly accepting bribe to countersign a cheque.
Basanti Nayak of ICDS, Karlamunda, had allegedly demanded Rs 3,500 from an Anganwadi worker of Paria to countersign a cheque of Rs 37,549 for suppling food items to pregnant women and newborns, a vigilance release said.
Accordingly, a trap was laid Monday and Nayak was caught red-handed by vigilance officers while accepting the bribe from the complainant, it said.
The bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized in the presence of witnesses.
A search was conducted at her residence at Bhawanipatna town, the release added.
