ICFA initiates world agri award with cash prize of $1,00,000

The Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) has initiated an award with a cash prize of USD 1,00,000 to be given to an outstanding individual or institution in the field of agriculture.

Renowned farm scientist and Father of Green Revolution M S Swaminathan will head the international jury to select the candidates, ICFA said in a statement.

The first award will be given on October 25 at the Global Agriculture Leadership Summit to be held in the national capital.

The award -- World Agriculture Laureate-- to be presented annually has been initiated to recognise the visionaries, who have served the humanity through agriculture, the statement added.
