ICICI Academy starts courses for poor unskilled youths

Leading private bank ICICI today announced launching a centre here to provide vocational training to unskilled youths to help them gain employment.

ICICI Academy for Skills (ICICI Academy) announced to offer courses in four disciplines--electrical & home appliances repair, refrigeration & air conditioning repair, pumps & motor repair and retail cafe operations, an ICICI release said here.

The Academy has formalised the content of the courses with best-in-class knowledge partners namely Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd, Blue Star Ltd, Crompton Greaves Ltd and Cafe Coffee day, it said.

The centre which would given preference to candidates hailing from economically weaker sections will also provide residential facilities to them.
 

In addition to the new centre in Patna, it already has eight other such Academies across the country, it said adding ICICI Academies aims to train 5,000 youth at these nine training centres in the country in the first year of operation.

The centres have been opened as part of bank's corporate social responsibility task.
