ICRISAT director Dar gets FABA award

William D Dar, director of International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, has been conferred with prestigious FABA award for his contribution in the field of sustainable agriculture.

"Dr Dar was chosen by a team of global experts for his notable contributions to science and sustainable agriculture, and his transformational leadership at ICRISAT that turned the institute into a forward-looking global centre of excellence," city-based ICRISAT said in a statement.

The Federation of Asian Biotech Associations Special Award 2014 was presented by Nobel laureate and eminent German virologist Harald zur Hausen during the valedictory ceremony of the BioAsia 2014 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre yesterday, it said.
 

"I dedicate this award to the small-holder farmers of Asia and sub-Saharan Africa," Dar said in his speech.
