ID Overseas to sell US brand Dickies' workwear in India

Bengaluru-based garment exporter ID Overseas has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with the US workwear brand Williamson-Dickie to tap the growing basic workwear market in the country.

"We have entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with the US workwear maker Williamson-Dickie to launch its products in the domestic market, which is pegged at around Rs 1,300 crore," Dickies India & ID Overseas chief executive Ravi Karthikeya told PTI.

He said this market is growing at a CAGR of 15 per cent, it is expected to touch Rs 6,000 crore by 2020.

Williamson-Dickie, popularly known as Dickies, is based in Fort Worth, Texas and sells is brands in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, China, Japan and the Middle East.
 

"The licensing pact is for ten years and covers India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. The pact allows ID Overseas to design, manufacture and sell Dickies branded uniforms & footwear," Karthikeya said, adding production and distribution will begin this month itself.

The basic workwear have been traditionally used by healthcare, hospitality, energy and manufacturing sectors.

Karthikeya said with manufacturing getting a push, there is tremendous scope of workwear and safety wear uniforms in the country.
