As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, IDBI Bank has contributed Rs 1 crore to Odisha Chief Minister's Relief Fund towards immediate relief for the people affected by the recent cyclone Phailin.

The cheque for the amount was handed over by IDBI CMD M S Raghavan to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Odisha and adjoining areas witnessed incessant rains, when cyclone Phailin struck the coast of Odisha on the night of October 12.

"It is really very unfortunate that lakhs of people had to spend their nights, including Diwali in darkness due to cyclone Phailin. The grief and anguish of the sufferers are of colossal magnitude," Raghavan said.

The contribution is a modest effort by IDBI Bank to express and demonstrate solidarity with the state government, in reducing the suffering of the affected populace as a conscientious and responsible corporate citizen of India, he added.
