The second edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon scheduled to take place on August 20 will see more than 15,000 runners participating in the event.
The race will commence and end at the R2 Grounds in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon Race Director, Nagaraj Adiga, said, "Marathon routes require permissions from multiple authorities. It would suffice to say permissions did not come from some part of the civic authorities for the original south Mumbai route. We respect the decision of the authorities."
"Our route through the old parts of Mumbai was a key draw for runners and we sincerely regret that they will not get to run on the same route," he was quoted as saying in a media release issued here today.
Registrations for all three races; 21 km, 10 km and 5 km closed on July 31, 2017 after one-week extension.
