Idols of Kakatiya dynasty seized; one arrested

Four stolen idols belonging to the Kakatiya dynasty were seized from a person in Karimnagar district of Telangana, police said today.

According to Karimnagar SP V Shiva Kumar, four 'panchaloha' idols with a market value of Rs 2 crore were seized from one Burra Sailu.

The idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Laxmana and Godadevi were stolen by three unknown offenders from a temple in Pothgal village in Mustabad mandal in 2010.

After the incident, the offenders retained the idols with them as they could not sell it in the market. Out of the trio, B Tirupathi and Lokini Yellaiah died. After their death, Sailu tried to sell these idols in the market, but was caught by police, the SP added.
