Idols worth crores stolen from UP temple

Three idols worth crores of rupees were stolen from a temple in Gaura village under Khuthan police station area here, police said today.

'Ashtadhatu' idols of Lord Ram, Janki and Laxman were found missing from the Ram Janki Temple, SP Bablu Kumar said, adding that the doors of the temple were found broken this morning.

The idols, each three-foot tall, are said to be worth crores of rupees in the international market, the SP said.

He said efforts are on to trace them.

Ashtadhatu is a combination of eight metals.
