IED defused in Assam

Explosive Device (IED), planted by the banned anti-talk faction of the ULFA, was defused by the Army in upper Assam's Tinsukia district today.

Police said the militants planted the bomb in front of the house of Ramesh Prasad, an owner of a small tea garden, at Kakojan village under Silabari police station.

On receiving the information from the tea garden authorities the Army and police swung into action and recovered the IED.

The explosive was subsequently defused by the special bomb defusal squad of the army.

The army and the police has launched a manhunt to trace the militants who escaped after the incident. PTI CORR SB
