The average price of electricity sold on Indian Energy Exchange remained at Rs 2.82 per unit in March even as trading volumes during this period increased compared to the previous month.
Around 2.3 billion units of electricity were traded on the bourse in March, with daily average trading volumes touching 73 million units.
In March, the overall trading volume was about 12 per cent higher than in February, mainly on account of an "increase in demand owing to the fast approaching summer season in the country".

Unavailability of the transmission corridor continues to be a deterrent this month as well - about 400 MUs could not be traded due to inter-state transmission network congestion. Moreover, import of electricity into Southern region was next to impossible as the transmission network remained highly congested throughout the month.
The transfer of electricity between the southern states was also affected due to congestion, it said.
