The BJP may go for amendment in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act if it wins the upcoming civic body polls, to ensure that the three corporations are not dependent on the state government for funds.
The party is working on this line as the BJP-ruled three municipal corporations faced problems in receiving their due funds from the AAP government, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said today.
The North, East and South Delhi Municipal Corporations had been complaining about not getting their due funds from the government since the AAP came to power in 2015.
The BJP leaders at the civic bodies have also been demanding implementation of recommendations of 4th Delhi Finance Commission (DFC) which will lead to more funds to corporations from the Delhi government.
"We are working on a framework so that MCDs are not dependent on the Delhi government for funds. It could be in the manner Delhi Development Authority (DDA) comes under the Centre," Tiwari said.
The party may approach the Centre for help in this regard and necessary amendment in the concerned Act, he added.
