The Centenary award, which carries a cash prize, will be conferred on the film that, in the opinion of the jury, will go on to become a significant milestone in the journey of the celluloid medium, I&B secretary Uday Kumar said while launching a campaign of IFFI at the ongoing Cannes film festival yesterday.

The 100 years of celebration of Indian cinema will be observed from the 12th edition of the Goa film festival. Kumar said the award would continue in the coming years also.

Cannes film festival, a prestigious event for the world of cinema, has a India pavilion set up by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) seeking to create a global foot print for Indian Cinema.

It also aims at promoting India as an "incredible" destination for shooting films and documentaries.

According to a government release issued here today, an international panel of producers and administrators, led by the I&B secretary, will, on coming Monday, discuss the need for a film commission in India which would be the single window film clearance system for film shooting.

This year would see a significantly larger number of networking receptions hosted by NFDC for filmmakers from Brazil, New Zealand, Canada, Australia and Israel.

To illustrate some of the opportunities and challenges involved in setting up co-productions between Europe and India, Primehouse and NFDC will present two case studies of feature length films from the PRIMEXCHANGE Europe-India Workshop at Film Bazaar Goa 2011.

This is a new section incorporated in Cannes 2012. The Incredible India Party, which carries forward the endeavor to network the world with India and billed to be "an evening with Incredible India", will be held on coming Monday at Cannes.

Acclaimed Sufi singer, Jasbir Jassi will kick-start the evening with his soulful rendition of Sufi music.
