Agrochemicals firm Insecticides India Ltd (IIL) today said its Rs 40-crore joint venture research facility at Chopanki in Rajasthan has become operational.
The research and development (R&D) facility is set up by OAT and IIL Laboratories Ltd, a joint venture company between IIL and Japanese firm OAT Agrio Co Ltd.
"The facility is spread across Rs 25,000 square feet having state-of-the-art R&D centre. In this facility, the scientists of India and Japan will work together under one roof to research and invent agrochemical molecules to control pests, weeds and diseases affecting the crops," IIL Managing Director Rajesh Aggarwal told reporters here.

"India is a distinct country in terms of the variety of soil conditions and the different climates it has across states. The examination and gauging of results of new molecules on different soil and climate become easy here," OAT and IIL laboratories Ltd Managing Director Tetsuya Imal said.
The facility will consist of three synthetic laboratories, two air-conditioned green houses, three breeding rooms, two bio assay rooms growth chambers, dedicated sewerage treatment plant (STP).
