The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata is in the process of setting up an academia-industry interaction cell.
An IISER Kolkata statement issued by the director today said, the cell is going to be a platform from which interested students and faculty members will get scope to explore industry directed manpower training and self-employment leading to entrepreneurship potential.
"The process of setting up an incubation cell for promoting entrepreneurial potential of our students and faculty members has been initiated," the statement of IISER Kolkata, established by the MHRD in 2006, said.

The vision of IISER Kolkata for new age entrepreneurs and young minds is to transform budding entreprenurs to start a business venture with minimum risk, the statement said.
The IISER Kolkata had been set up to carry out research in basic and frontier areas of science with special emphasis on interdisciplinary areas, involving both undergraduate and post-graduate students.
About IISER's national and international collaborations, the statement said, "Presently we have national and international collaborations with various national and international institute/universities from the perspective of student and faculty exchange and fruitful scientific collaboarations."
Having established Physics and Chemistry Society under their concerned departments, IISER Kolkata is tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs internationally through Global Initiative of Academic Network (GIAN), a Government of India initiative, the statement said.
The next GIAN programme is scheduled in the next month while four GIAN programmes have been conducted till date.
The institute is presently pursuing approximately 78 sponsored research projects and 16 young faculty fellowship programmes sponsored by goverment and non-governmental agencies.
The total number of sponsored by research projects received by IISER Kolkata is 223 so far with Rs 100 crore sanctioned, the statement said.
