Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today thanked the media for highlighting the financial hardships faced by two brothers from Pratapgarh who recently cracked the prestigious IIT entrance exam and said that his government will provide help to any such case brought to his notice.
Raju (18) and Brijesh (19), sons of a daily wager from Rehua Lalganj village in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh, recently cleared the IIT Advanced examinations. Raju secured 167th rank in his first attempt while his brother Brijesh stood 410th in the prestigious exam.
"I need to thank the members of the press for bringing the issue into spotlight as it was only after this that the children reached me. Whenever you (media) will bring any such case to our notice... The Samajwadi Party government will come forward and help the poor," Yadav told reporters after a meeting of the state cabinet here.

On decisions taken in the meeting, he said the Nawabganj Bird Sanctury in Unnao will be named after freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad as he hailed from that city and the Lucknow Zoo after Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.
