IIT Kharagpur team wins Tata Steel's Mind over Matter

Tata Steel announced the winners of its Annual Innovation challenge - Mind over Matter Season 3 - today.

The 6 month-long programme culminated with the Grand finale held here today where a total of five teams presented their innovation ideas before the jury, a company statement said.

Mukesh Kumar and Vijay Anand from IIT Kharagpur emerged as the winner of MOM season 3; Priyanka Sinha and Aarushee Agarwal from NIT Jamshedpur bagged the 1st Runners up position and Manish K Chandan and Sourav Agarwal from BIT Mesra secured the third slot.

Over 30 top engineering institutes of the country took part in the Season 3 of Mind over Matter and the competition witnessed a record 270 idea submissions against a total of 12 challenges (topics) put forth by Tata Steel R&D team, the statement said.
 

The jury members for the finale were three senior Tata Steel officials -- Anand Sen, president TQM and Steel Business, Dr Sanjay Chandra, Chief R&D and SS, and Dharmendra Kumar, Chief Engineering and Projects, the release said.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Guest Anand Sen said, "Mind over Matter is a promising platform for fresh and young minds. It provides them the opportunity to work with professional experts at Tata Steel's R&D. The programme has helped the students put their insights into application using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
