IIT Madras Thursday launched a 'techMBA' programme for undergraduate students of all engineering streams of the institute.
The dual degree programme, which will be introduced from 2019-20 academic year, will have an intake of 25-30 students, IIT-M statement said.
Students completing the five-year 'techMBA' will be awarded two degrees, engineering UG degree (B Tech) and Master's degree in Management (MBA).
The course conceptualised by the institute's Department of Management Studies (DMS) will offer foundational techMBA courses during the third and fourth years of all UG programmes.
Eligibility criteria to enter the fifth year of the course are CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average), departmental aptitude test and/or personal interview, the statement said.
Calling the programme a "trendsetter", Head of DMS Prof G Arun Kumar said "It enables the undergraduate students to utilize the fifth year of the course for specialising in the newly-formulated curricula that integrates and synergizes technology and management disciplines.
