IL&FS signs MoU with NOCCI for excellence centre

Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS) has signed an MoU with North Odisha Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NOCCI) to create a centre of excellence to provide skill development training to 1,000 unemployed youth every year.

"The students will get free education, free lodging and boarding while undergoing the training programme at the institute. The cost of their training will be raised from different companies through CSR activities," said a NOCCI official.

The aim is to create large scaled skilled workforce to make India a manufacturing hub, he said.

Sanjib Nayak, Regional Head of IL&FS Education/Skills/ Clusters, Odisha operation signing the MoU with S S Das, Vice-president of NOCCI Infra, yesterday hoped the venture would change the lives of many people by spurring economic growth in the region.
 

NOCCI, which has a membership of over 100, can work as a conduit to pick up school drop outs and unemployed youth to provide required training to make them employable, he added.

IL&FS Skill Corporation is operating close to 300 skill centres across the country and 12 in Odisha training 250,000 persons and from the lowest economic strata, the company sources said.
