One person was arrested and a cache of arms recovered after police busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit here that was setup amidst a sugarcane field.
Police recovered three guns, 20 pistols and a large number of unassembled arms parts along with manufacturing machine after the premises was raided at Jola village under Budhana police station in the district yesterday.
The unit was a makeshift structure made of tarpaulin sheets.
While one person was arrested in the raid the other managed to flee, Station House Officer (SHO) Kamal Yadav said.
Later during interrogation, the arrested person confessed that the illegal unit was set up to supply arms during the upcoming panchayat polls in the state, the SHO said.
