Illegal foreign liquor factory busted

An illegal foreign liquor factory was today busted at Salampathar village under Kandra police station in Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house and busted the illegal factory, Superintendent of Police, Inderjeet Mahatha said.

200 litre spirit kept in a drum, 20,000 empty bottles, around 35,000 caps of bottles of different brands, 96 bottles of packed whisky, 46 bottles of rum and chemicals meant to mix in the liquor were seized, apart from three mobiles phones.

However, none was arrested.

According to the villagers, the factory was functioning since September.

The recovery was an achievement for the police in view of the coming panchayat poll commencing from November 22.
 

Police registered FIR against three persons under various sections of the IPC and Excise Act.
