Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 75 lakh being transported illegally from Haryana to Bhiwandi in Thane was today seized and one person arrested in this connection, police said.
The consignment, carrying liquor of as many as 13 brands, was being carried in two trucks allegedly without a proper permit and on the pretext of transporting hair oil, Vada Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganeshpuri Srinivas Ghatge said.
The two trucks illegally carrying the liquor from Panipat (Haryana) were intercepted at Vada taluka in Thane district while en-route to Bhiwandi.

One of the truck drivers, Sukhdev Singh Karnail Singh (45), has been arrested while the driver of the other vehicle managed to escape, police said.
A case has been lodged in this connection under sections 465 (forgery), section 467 (forgery of valuable security), section 420 (cheating) of IPC and other relevant sections of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949, police said, adding that search for the other truck driver was on.
