Six people were arrested and an illegal plastic items manufacturing factory was busted in a raid by the Noida administration on Thursday, officials said.
The Sector 58-located factory manufactured cups, plates, bowls and containers using plastic material which has been banned by the government, they said.
"Six people, including the proprietor of the company, were arrested on the spot from Sterling District private limited and 40 truck loads of material seized," City Magistrate, Noida, Shailendra Mishra said.
The material was being supplied to local traders in the city, he said.
The raid was carried out by the administration along with police and the pollution department, Mishra said.
Those arrested have been identified as factory proprietor Indramani, staffers Naveen, Feroz, Rajesh Kumar, Mohammad Nasiruddin and Pallav Gupta, he said.
The administration has warned of strict action against illegally operating firms and appealed to people to minimise use of plastic.
