Illegal sand miner pulls gun, takes away his tractor seized by

A man involved in illegal sand mining allegedly threatened a security guard of a woman IAS officer at gunpoint and took away his sand-laden tractor-trolley, which she had seized at Bamitha village in the district, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon, when sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Sonia Meena was on inspection of illegal mining in the village.

According to police, the accused identified as Arjun Singh, who is involved in illegal sand mining activities, pulled the gun on the security guard of Meena and took away the tractor-trolley full of sand that the officer had seized.

"The security guard - a weaponless home guard - was escorting the seized vehicle when its owner Arjun Singh pulled a gun on him and forcibly took away the vehicle," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rajnagar, BKS Parihar said.
 

Following the incident, the accused has gone untraceable and police have announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on his head.

"We have announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on the head of Arjun Singh. His arms licence has been cancelled and the tractor-trolley has been seized again," Parihar said.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and hunt is on for the accused.
