A caretaker of an Imam Bargah and two policemen were shot dead today in two different incidents of target killings here in this restive northwestern city of Pakistan, sparking massive protests by the minority Shia-community, police said.
Imdad Hussain Mutawalli of Imam Bargah Qadeemi Yakkatoot was shot dead by unknown assailants as he left his house in the morning. He died on the spot.
The killing of the caretaker sparked massive protests by the minority Shia community. Enraged protesters blocked Circular Road and the main G.T. Road here and chanted slogans against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police for its failure to control target killings.

Meanwhile, unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing at policemen in Charsadda district of KP, killing two traffic policemen on the spot.
Security forces also recovered a huge quantity of explosives and arrested one suspect from Swabi district in KP, possibly foiling a major terrorist attack, police said.
According to District Police Officer Swabi, the police arrested a suspected terrorist and recovered 49 kg explosive materials from him in Kalo Khan area of the district.
